A tea company that began where old habits ended

Our founder Anouk Yve explains why this brand Nōta Gathering was never just about tea: it's about reclaiming the moments that matter. In this piece she shares the founding ideas behind the collection: five teas built not from flavor trends, but from the real rhythms of a full life.  This is what it looks like to replace old habits with new rituals. Slowly, intentionally, from the inside out.

The word Gathering in our brand name is not decoration. It is the entire idea, she smiles while looking outside the window.

"I built Nōta Gathering around the idea that the most important moments in a day are not the biggest ones. They are the recurring ones." Yve says. The short moment before the house wakes, the much needed break between two meetings an after dinner craving. These moments used to belong to coffee (because energy) and alcohol (to feel lighter perhaps?). When I turned 40 I realized coffee started making me nervous, while alcohol would wake me up in the middle of the night. But those moments leading to coffee and alcohol consumption, those stayed.  I went searching for alternatives. I found tea.

So we built a collection of five teas. I believe in the concept of tea, I'm a big fan of tea myself for years. A friend of me who's a tea sommelier connected me to the right experts. From there I started briefing my wishes:  each tea should answer a specific need. Gyokuro for the morning: shadow-grown, velvety, focused. The same antioxidant depth as matcha, without the hype, as a replacement for coffee. A green tea with creamy hints of Tonka which I called Warm Bath for the end of the day, when the body needs something full and calming. Each blend exists because a moment in the day needed it.

I didn't wanted a wellness theatre. It is the recognition that rhythm matters and that what you reach for, repeatedly, shapes who you are.

So we - and with we I mean me and my team, a designer, a buyer, someone who's running the operations, started slow. Three months in, small, intentional. The collection is a composition rather than a catalogue where each tea carries a distinct emotional landscape, chosen from the inside out. I brief our tea experts the way I would brief a creative director: I need a tea that stops a craving. I need one that gets me through a morning without the jitter. The result is five teas that feel inevitable rather than random.

This is a collection built on replacing old habits with new rituals.

The gathering part is not metaphor. Tea, by nature, creates a pause. Even alone, it calls you into presence. And shared, it becomes something else entirely: an act of care, a reason to slow down together. We are building something here. A world where tea is chic, considered, and deeply connected to daily life.

We have only just started.
